General Patent Corporation Settles Patent Suit with Boca Research

MONSEY, N.Y., February 17, 1998 - General Patent Corporation (GPC) has reached an out-of-court settlement with Boca Research, Inc. in a patent infringement suit brought by GPC against seven modem manufacturers in May 1997 to enforce four of GPC's patents which cover specific aspects of PCMCIA devices, PC card modems and other computer communications devices. Under the settlement Agreement Boca Research agreed to license GPC's patents.

General Patent Corporation Settles Patent Suit with Maxtech and Archtek

MONSEY, N.Y., November 4, 1997 - General Patent Corporation (GPC) has reached a settlement with GVC Technologies, dba Maxtech Corp., of Cerritos, California and Archtek America Corp. of City of Industry, California in a patent infringement suit brought by GPC in May 1997 against seven leading modem manufacturers. The suit was brought to enforce four of GPC's patents which cover specific aspects of PCMCIA devices, PC card modems and other computer communications devices. As part of the settlement, Maxtech and Archtek agreed to license GPC's patents. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

MONSEY, N.Y., August 26, 1997 - General Patent Corporation (GPC) has reached an out-of-court settlement with IBM Corporation in a patent infringement suit brought by GPC against IBM in March 1997 to enforce four of GPC's patents which cover specific aspects of PCMCIA devices, PC card modems and other computer communications devices. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

Seven Modem Companies Named in Patent Suit Filed by General Patent Corporation

MONSEY, NY, June 9, 1997 - Seven leading modem manufacturers have been named in a patent infringement suit by General Patent Corporation (GPC). The suit seeks to enforce four of GPC's patents, which cover specific aspects of PC Card modems, the credit-card-size modems used in notebook and laptop personal computers. The alleged infringers include modem leaders Hayes Microcomputer Products, Inc. and Boca Research, Inc. The suit was filed in United States District Court for the Central District of California in Orange County.
